CrossBridge is a Christian outreach ministry dedicated to:
- Bring youth and adults from across the country together to form a Christian community for the purpose of serving God and knowing our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ
- Spread the love of Christ in the larger community through service to people in need
- Provide opportunities for youth to practice leadership skills, witness to their faith, and grow in spiritual maturity
CrossBridge is a Christian service project for youth and their adult leaders. CrossBridge participants spend the week performing minor home repair tasks such as porch construction, wheelchair ramp construction, repairing a roof, painting a home, yard work, and other miscellaneous chores. A strong emphasis is also placed on interacting with families for whom we work. This interaction is designed to help us see that all people have many types of needs, not just the more visible, physical needs. Families we work for are referred to us by agencies or individuals in the community, and the family requests the work----this way we are meeting their needs as they see them. Our staff visits each work site on several occasions before a group is sent out to ensure safety and quality of the work environment.
We are preparing for another summer of ministry to be held at Kirkwood Mission Center, a Presbyterian camp and retreat center in eastern North Carolina. Attending youth groups will experience the connected-ness of Christian community, gain skills in sharing God's love with those in need around Kirkwood, and gain confidence in their abilities to complete home repair projects. They will be participating in a ministry that has proven itself to be a truly life-changing and holy experience in mission.
